Frequently asked questions

How much does a concrete driveway cost in Santa Rosa?

HomeGuide's national figures for 2026 put a concrete driveway at $6 to $15 per square foot, or $2,400 to $8,600 for a two-car driveway. Those are published national ranges, not our quotes. Tear-out, base work on clay, access and finish set the real price, which we give in writing after measuring.

Who has to fix the sidewalk in front of my house in Santa Rosa?

The owner of the fronting lot. Santa Rosa City Code section 13-32.020 requires owners to repair and maintain the sidewalk area, and work on it needs a city encroachment permit.

Do I need a permit for a patio or driveway?

Ground-level flatwork on your own lot generally does not need a building permit. The driveway approach, curb and public sidewalk are in the right of way and need an encroachment permit. We check the rules for your address.

Why do driveways crack so much around Santa Rosa?

Mostly because of clay. It swells in the rainy months and shrinks through the dry summer, and slabs move with it. A compacted rock base, steel and well spaced joints limit the damage.

How soon can I use new concrete?

Plan on 1 to 2 days before walking on it and about 7 days before parking a car on it. Heavy vehicles should wait about 28 days.

Who contacts 811 before digging?

The person doing the digging. When we do the work, we place the request with USA North 811. California requires at least 2 working days of notice, not counting the day of the request, and the service is free.

How long before I can use new concrete?

You can usually walk on it after 1-2 days and drive on it after about 7 days. It keeps gaining strength for about a month.

Do you remove the old concrete?

Yes. Tear-out and haul-away are part of our quote when a replacement is needed.

Can cracked concrete be repaired?

Small cracks and surface damage can often be repaired or resurfaced. Slabs that have sunk or broken up usually need to be replaced. We tell you which applies.

Do I need a permit for concrete work in Santa Rosa?

Driveway approaches, sidewalks and structural slabs often need a permit. We check the rules for your address.
